Person on you list hard to shop for?

41T4G9BHQML__SS500_Steph and i did some Christmas shopping yesterday at the outlets in Pigeon Forge. We got almost everyone done but there are always those who are hard to shop for. it seems like every year the same people on our list are the last ones we find gifts for every year.

Well i have found the gift for all those people. The UFO-02 Detector detects magnetic and electromagnetic disturbances so that...i'm not sure.

Here is a description from Amazon:

Over the years many UFO sightings have reported magnetic and electromagnetic disturbances. The UFO Detector is designed to sense these disturbances and will signal their presence by flashing an LED and beeping. The elegantly designed transparent plastic case is a handsome sculptured conversation piece that's allows one to see the electronics inside the case. Suitable for display on a desk, shelf or bedroom dresser. Size is approximately three inches in dia. by six inches tall. Uses 9V lithium battery (not included)

So, thanks to me, consider your Christmas shopping done for the year. Oh and by the way, don't tell Steph what she will be getting this year if you see her!

Leopard vs. Vista

whiteleopardx my brother is going to be so disappointed if this is true. according to Oliver Rist at PCmag, which is a pretty pro Apple publication, Leopard is running into the same problems Vista has run into.

you can check out his article here.

would that not be the ultimate irony? the Vista killer turns out to be the most Vista like of all the Mac OS's.

Man vs Wild Game

manvswildwhile watching a new episode of man vs wild they had to a graphic about a new man vs wild game on discovery.com. i checked it out this morning during college game day and its pretty fun.

you can play it here.

by the way... the new season of man vs wild is great. i just watched the episode from panama this morning. who knew that vampire bats were a real thing? fyi - if you are bitten by one they leave some sort of gel that stops your body from clotting.

National Treasure 2

national-treasure-book-of-secrets i loved the first national treasure and have been excited about the second one since i heard they were making it.

it finally comes out on December 21st and i cant wait. i was bouncing around the web about found this game. it is some sort of treasure hunt set up to promote the movie.

i haven't played it and it looks like the game which came out before the last jason bourne movie. it turned out to be more of an advertisement for master card than anything else. i'll hope this is a real game i can waste some hours playing over the holidays.

Secret church

sc_logo_shield[1] copy Unfortunately i had to pull out of the secret church trip. i had a research paper on the history of the disciples due Monday which i didn't start on until Friday. this also meant that i missed an opportunity to attend the ut basketball game and the football game against arkansas. but i'm excited to say that brookhills has already uploaded the audio and notes from the night and will hopefully be adding the video soon. i'm taking a trip to orlando next week and hope they are all done by then. i would love to work my way through them on the trip. steph would probably love the quiet time as well.

Now I care abou this stupid strike

office so before today i thought, "who cares if some group of writers strike in cali...what does that have to do with me?"

that was all before i read this article which tells that the office is no longer recording episodes. so many of the actors are also writers and members of the wga so no one is showing up.

now i'm getting mad! pay them for the stupid internet shows please.

Fanboys are the Best!

ichimpits always funny to hear apple fanboys, like my brother, go on and on about the advantages to the universe of owning a mac. because most don't have many friends and their only 3 friends all use macs, they think that everyone wants to have widgets on their screens and drop shadows everywhere with white backgrounds.

all that being said, don reisinger has a ridiculous article comparing leopard and vista. i will agree that there are 2 good features in leopard that vista doesn't have. 2...that's it. but here comes the great part, reisinger says that leopard will "outsell vista by a staggering margin."

right now less than 25 million people use macs...wait for it...and over 88 million copies of vista have been sold in the last year.

fanboys: ipods are great and the iphone is nifty but on the computer side just be happy that your notebooks are really cool.

Secret Church

i'm going next friday and i cant wait!

Christmas is Coming

jars of clay i cant believe this year is almost over. it is almost november..then comes thanksgiving...then comes christmas.

i just purchased this new cd by jars of clay and it has gotten me all in the holiday mood.

by the way, you can buy it from apple on itunes with drm, for 9.99 and who knows if they decide to "brick" your songs some day. although the apple version does come with one bonus track. maybe that is why its $3 more. or you can buy it from amazon here for 6.99 with no drm. i wonder which is the best option? (i would take a macbook pro if someone had $2200 to throw away)

Great Article on Mars Hill Church

marshillchurch_podcast there is a great article about the impact that mars hill church in seattle is having here.

i love the writers final line:

While it won't be what everyone wants or needs, it seems that it is what many are looking for, even in Seattle. Who knew?

i would agree that it may not be what every one wants but it is defiantly what everyone needs...even in seattle. the great thing is more and more people everyday are discovering that they need it. we had 16 children discover that last night!

Measure Twice sut Once

walmart_cakei can so see something like this happening to me.  someone ordered this cake at the last minute and were surprised by how it turned out.

this does give me a great idea for a joke birthday cake though. how funny would it be just to put an entire conversation on there? at least include phrase like "in caps" and "in cursive" "maybe in black" etc. would look great on a cake.

my dad is in construction and this reminds me of a maxim he was big on, "measure twice and cut once." make sure what you are doing is right the first time so that you dont have to go back and repeat a step. this cake decorated probably should have followed that advice.

Its gonna be a Girl

img098-724621so they finally found out, adam and lora will be having a little girl named ansley!  they found out that they were pregnant so early that is seems like they should be having the baby soon.  either way we will be adding another little girl with a name starting with an "a" soon.  you can read more about adam's thoughts on his blog here.
